The Sunday Scramble

January 3 2010 No Commented

Check out Thitoff and Conn on blog talk radio starting at noon.

Bling (10:57) – A. Winfield will play, but not start this week. Winfield will reportedly play in short-yardage situations only. Only three teams (NO, WAS,SEA) have given up more passing yards than the Giants over the last five weeks.

Bling (11:03) – R. Williams is expected to play this week. He was limited in practice all week so don’t expect a full workload.

Bling (11:06) – No T. Polamula for the Steelers this week. He practiced this week, but was limited.

Bling (11:07) – A. Bradshaw will play this week. Don’t expect Bradshaw to get all the carries with B. Jacobs out. D. Ware and/or G. Johnson are likely to get work as well.

Bling (11:09) – Warren McCarty of ESPN 1440 is reporting that R. Morris will and staff will return for 2010.

Bling (11:15) – Per John Clayton M. Manningham will not play this week. More snaps for H. Nicks in a nice match-up.

Bling (11:17) – E. Reed is expected to play this week according to Adam Schefter. All you owners relying on the cannon-armed Charlie Frye for you fantasy glory be warned.

Bling (11:25) – Schefter is reporting that if the Broncos get a 1 and 3 for Marshall that he is as good as gone. Schefter is also reporting that there is no guarantee that should the Broncos make the play-offs that Marshall will play then. Good to see McDaniels won’t let a pesky thing like the play-offs get in the way of his ego.

Bling (11:28) – C. Mortensen is reporting that the Bills had a ’stealth’ meeting with Bill Cowher this weekend. My guess is that the meeting was ’stealth’ because Cowher was embarrassed to be meeting with the Bills.

Bling (11:32) – The competition committee is looking at ways to pressure teams to not rest their starters over the last couple of weeks of the season. Chris Mortensen is reporting that one solution might be extra draft picks.

Bling (11:39) – K. Faulk and L. Maroney are inactive this week for the Patriots. Also inactive is V. Wilfork a T. Warren. Bump S. Morris up in value as well as the Texans run game.

Bling (11:43) – D. Brees, L. Moore,  P. Thomas, D. Thomas, S. Ellis and D. Sharper all inactive for the Saints this week. R. Bush is expected to start at tailback with M. Bell and L. Hamilton getting work as well.

Bling (11:46) – D. Culpepper will start for the Lions today.

Bling (11:49) – D. Williams is listed as inactive this week for the Panthers. I really like J. Stewart this week, especially with the Saints resting nearly everybody on their roster.

Bling (11:53) – A. Foster will get the start at RB for the Texans this week. Moats will get a part of the workload as well. I wouldn’t want to use either as more than a flex play.

Bling (11:56) – S. Jackson is listed as active for the Rams this week because risking the health of your best player in meaningless games is just smart football.

Bling (12:00) – T. Gonzalez will play this week for the Falcons.

Bling (12:00) – V. Shiancoe will play this week for the Vikings. Only the Browns have given up more receiving yards to the TE position over the last five weeks of the season.

Bling (12:03) – P. Williams is active for the Vikings this week.

Bling (12:09) – D. Ward is inactive for the Bucs this week. Give Caddy a bump in value.

Bling (12:14) – Torry Holt inactive for the Jags this week.

Bling (12:18) – D. Freeney is among seven starters listed as inactive this week for the Colts. Beware the wrath of the competition committee!

Bling (12:29) – Washington Post is reporting that the Redskins are going to announce the hiring of M. Shanahan in a couple of days.

Bling (12:45) – CBS reporting that Tom Brady has been playing with three broken ribs. The Pats don’t have a history of yanking their starters, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see Brady pulled early this week.

Bling (12:51) – I’m cutting out early so if any late scratches happen in the next six minutes…blame Conn. Good luck this week.
