The Sunday Scramble: Week 16

December 27 2009 No Commented

Check back at 11 AM ET as Adam Helbling handles the written side of the Sunday Scramble, giving you all the injury updates, inactives and lineup advice you need. Tito and Conn start the audio version at noon.

Bling (10:59) – Time to get rolling. No D. Williams for the Panthers today giving J. Stewart the bulk of the carries.  It isn’t a great match-up, but Stewart makes a nice option as a No. 2 RB and a strong flex play.

Bling (11:03) – V. Wilfork is a game-time decision for the Pats this week. If he can’t go, MJD should have an easier day. T. Warren who was out last week will play this week.

Bling (11:04) – D. Sharper and S. Ellis are expected to play today. The Saints have had struggles on defense of late, but if both players are back could make a nice option.

Bling (11:05) – B. Brohm is expected to start at quarterback for the Bills. Downgrade TO and L. Evans in an otherwise good match-up.

Bling (11:06) – Seeing reports that K. Boller is the likely start for the Rams this week in their quest for the No. 1 pick in the draft.

Bling (11:07) – A. Bryant is expected to play for TB this week. The Saints have struggled defending against the pass, but the Bucs have scaled back their passing game the last couple of weeks. I wouldn’t want to count on Bryant, but he could make a decent No. 3 option.

Bling (11:11) – D. Hester is not expected to play this week against the Vikings. You probably aren’t starting Cutler unless you are in a pretty deep league, but downgrade his value with Hester out.

Bling (11:12) – M. Shanahan has reported become the 3,973rd coach to turn down a job with the Bills. I still have money on him being in Washington next season.

Bling (11:15) – A warning to Colts owners…the team signed D. Willy off their practice squad. A pretty clear sign that the Colts want to rest Manning this week.

Bling (11:19) – J. Harrison will play for the Steelers this week. If you were planning on starting a Raven I would probably still do so, but downgrade them slightly with this news.

Bling (11:34) – P. Manning tells Rachel Nichols  that he plans to play as long as the game competitive.

Bling (11:41) – Adam Schefter reporting that word around the league is that Cowher is set to return to coach in 2010 with Tampa Bay and Carolina the leading contenders.

Bling (11:43) – V. Wilfork is out today for the Pats. Give a slight upgrade to MJD.

Bling (11:44) – E. Reed will start for the Ravens this week. Downgrade your Steelers a bit with this news.

Bling (11:45) – No J. Shockey for the Saints today.

Bling (11:46) – F. Taylor is a go for the Pats today. Downgrade Maroney a bit. I don’t think the Pats would have Taylor active unless they planned on giving him some carries.

Bling (11:52) – Ravens changing their mind on E. Reed and he will NOT start. Upgrade your Steelers.

Bling (11:53) – Nothing shocking about it, but M. Turner will not be playing for the Falcons today. J. Snelling makes a nice option filling in.

Bling (11:55) – No Ryan Pickett for the Packers today.

BLing (12:00) – Further info on E. Reed. He wanted to play but was overruled by the coaching staff.

Bling (12:01) – Another non-surprise, but no T. Polamalu for the Steelers today.

Bling (12:03) – J. Jones is active for the Seahawks today destroy much of J. Forsett’s value for fantasy owners.

Bling (12:09) – To reassure a friend that just called in a panic about my early posting on P. Manning. The Colts want to rest him, that doesn’t mean he isn’t starting. If the team gets up a couple of touchdowns and the Jets are struggling on offense look for him to come out.

Bling (12:11) – Mark Clayton and Kelley Washington are both active today. It is a good match-up against a weak Steelers secondary….but are only options in very very deep leagues.

Bling (12:14) – A. Haynesworth will start tonight. There were rumors that he might not start this week after being late to a meeting.

Bling (12:17) – J. Fargas is inactive this week for the Raiders. Look for M. Bush to get the start and bulk of the carries in a good match-up. I like Bush as a lower end No. 2 RB this week with some upside. D. McFadden is best used as a flex option.

Bling (12:22) – With the news slowing down let me just say for the record that Assassain’s Creed II is very good. Thank you Santa.

Bling (12:25) – M. Ryan is active and will start today. He isn’t a player I would want to count on this week.

Bling (12:27) – NFL.com reporting that Tampa Bay has ‘reached out’ to Cowher about coaching the team in 2010.

Bling (12:28) – A.Foster is expected to get another shot at getting the bulk of the workload. You have a stronger stomach than I if you are looking to start him this week. There are just too many people sharing carries and apparently a pretty short leash.

Bling – (12:40) – My apologies for the slew of typos, but I’m operating without sleep. Hopefully, you can make out my gibberish.

Bling – (12:42) – D. Ward is active this week. He was a late add to the injury report on Friday. It is a good match-up, but other than a flex in a deep league I would look at other options first. This also hurts C. Williams value.

Bling (12:51) – R. Bush is active this week for the Saints. Look for a max of 12-15 touches from Bush and a decent flex option.

Bling (12:58) – Need to check out a bit early this week so if something happens in the last two minutes before kick-off I apologize. Good luck this week, unless you face one of us.
