Looking for some match-ups to exploit or trades to consider? Dig through Risk Management and Post Season Prearation: Quarterbacks.

Helbling (10:57) – No Channing Crowder for the Dolphins. If the Pats actually try and run the ball, and you never know with the Pats, L. Maroney could be in for a nice day.

Helbling (11:00) – Espn reporting that unless he gets injured pregame, Calvin Johnson will be playing today. He has a nice match-up against the Seahawks secondary. This should give a boost to Stafford as well.

Helbling (11:01) – No surprise, but the Chiefs have activated Kolby Smith from the PUP list. I don’t see him getting much action today, but down the road is a real possibility. I just don’t see Jamal Charles as an every down back.

Helbling (11:03) – Ryan Moats gets the starting nod over Slaton.  Slaton should still get some work, but you have to downgrade his value.

Helbling (11:06) – Roddy White (knee) made a late week appearance on the injury report. However, he practiced Friday (always a good sign) and is expected to go.

Helbling (11:08) – Attention Mr. Lerner : If Mike Holmgren isn’t available for your GM position. I am available.  (rumors are that Lerner is a big 411 fan. I should know since I am the one spreading those rumors).

Helbling (11:11) – No Antonio Bryant for the Bucs today, not a good sign for your rookie QB.

Helbling (11:13) – Anquan Boldin is expected to give it a go this weekend according to Bears beat writer Brad Biggs. He clearly isn’t 100 percent and struggled in the team’s last game. If you have a different option it might be a good idea to avoid this situation.

Helbling (11:15) – The Cardinals would like to give rookie RB Chris Wells more work, but he has been a liability in blitz pick-up.

Helbling (11:17) – With no Marlin Jackson or Bob Sanders, Matt Schaub could be in for a big day even without Owen Daniels.

Helbling (11:19) – Adam Schefter is reporting that sources are saying that Andy Reid will give Westbrook another week off.

Conn (11:25) – Steelers LB Lawrence Timmons will miss Monday night’s game with a sprained ankle, even after having a bye week to rest. Keyaron Fox will fill the void.

Conn (11:26) – Obviously with Westbrook out, LeSean McCoy gets a boost on our rankings. Also Donovan McNabb, DeSean Jackson and Brent Celek.

Conn (11:28) – Just so me and Helbing have something to argue about, I think Jamal Charles will have a good game this week and solidify the starting role from here on out. Is he an every down back? By default, yes and he he’ll make for a better fantasy option than his predecessor.

Conn (11:34) – According to Sam Wyche of the NFL Network, the Texans will come out a-blazin with four WR sets to both take advantage of the Colts injury riddled secondary and to compensate for the loss of Daniels.  WR Jacoby Jones could sneak in under the radar as the next Austin Collie/Pierre Garcon. Keep tabs on this game.

Helbling (11:35) – RE: Conn @ 11:28 – I have better thing to do than argue about the value of Chiefs running backs.  For example, Joey Porter hates the Pats and Tom Brady.

The Pats

And the hate’s been there for a while, especially after all the cheating they did back in the day. I cannot honestly say that I agreed with it, but it happened, and it’s over with now. So the hate comes from way back then.

Brady

“No question. When a guy can tell a ref when to throw a flag, and he gets it — stuff like that — I mean, he’s got his own rules.

Conn (11:45) – Colts RB Donald Brown is inactive for today’s game. It’s looking more and more like a tough game for Manning and the gang. Joseph Addai will have to shoulder 20+ carries and his ypc. just isn’t that attractive without Brown.

C0nn (11:46) – WR Chris Chambers is active today and will play for the Chiefs. In a related story, the Chiefs are terrible.

Conn (11:48) – Patriots TE Ben Watson, questionable this week with a back injury, will play this week and has a solid match up against the Dolphins today.

Conn (11:50) – WR Devin Hester will play for the Bears today. He’s averaging 7 receptions and 88 yards the last three weeks. Hester will get plenty of looks as the Bears attempt to keep up with Arizona.

Conn (11:52) – Ravens DT Haloti Ngata will not play against the Bengals today. Give Cedric Benson a boost.

Conn (11:53) – WR Anquan Boldin (ankle) will NOT play today, according to CBSsportsline’s Dave Richard. He tried to give it a go in pregame warm ups but can’t get comfortable. Steve Breaston gets the starting nod and is a solid No. 2 WR play. Funny…. didn’t Boldin say he felt “great” this week?  Does anyone feel “great” at this point of the season. Start Breaston.

Conn (11:58) – Both RB Jerious Norwood and RB Jason Snelling will not play this week for the Falcons. Expect Turner to get a ton of carries.

Helbling (12:02) – Jermichael Finley is out for the Packers today which should mean more targets for both Drive and Jennings.

Helbling (12:22) – Some Sunday reading.  This crop of first year head coaches are awful.

Depending on what transpires over the second half of the season, the 2009 collection of first-year head coaches in the NFL could be viewed as one of the worst in a generation.

Also, Hunter Smith is out for the Redskins.

Helbling (12:26) – Adam Schefter passes along this stat of the day.

Stat of the day: Only teams with more interceptions this season than Saints S Darren Sharper by himself are Packers, Bills and Eagles.

This is why Darren Sharper should be leading the early season MVP voting. With Peyton Manning second and Drew Brees a distant third.

Conn (12:51) – Couple of late starts with questionable players. Detroit’s Kevin Smith and Giants WR Mario Manningham. Our take – Don’t start Maurice Morris. Smith is expected to play, but if he doesn’t Morris won’t have much of an impact. And Hakeem Nicks has been getting the majority of the targets between him and Manningham. So sick with Nicks no matter what Manningham’s status is at kickoff.
