Week 9 Waiver Wire
By Adam Helbling:
Go directly to the waiver wire, do not pass go, do not collect $200.
QB Matt Hasselbeck, Seattle Seahawks – With his injury history and his offensive line, counting on Hasselbeck as your starting quarterback is a bit risky. However, if you need the added depth picking up Hasselbeck isn’t a bad move and he is surprisingly available in roughly 35 percent of leagues polled. In the four games that Hasselbeck started and finished this season he is averaging 220 yards passing and 2.3 passing touchdowns per game.

RB Ryan Moats, Houston Texans – Slaton owners had a rough week watching their guy get benched and Moats go for 126 yards rushing and finding the end zone three times. Keep in mind that Moats was facing the Buffalo Bills who have struggled against the run for most of the season. As well, the team has not named Moats the starter. However, looking forward it wouldn’t be surprising to see Moats and Slaton in a RBBC with Moats getting the bulk of the carries inside the 20s.
RB Justin Forsett, Seattle Seahawks – The Edgerrin James experiment has come to a close. James was cut today after the Seahawks slumped to 2-5 and does not appear to be competing for a playoff spot. While James did not put much of a dent into the carries of starting RB Julius Jones, those handful of touches now slide towards Forsett, who has had no more than six carries and 11 touches in a game. An increase to 10 touches a game with a ceiling of 12-14 could give Forsett some value, especially as the season wears on and Seattle become officially eliminated from contention.
WR Jeremy Maclin, Philadelphia Eagles – Through his play and injury Maclin has entrenched himself as the team’s No. 2 wide receiver. Since becoming the team’s starter, Maclin has averaged four receptions, 62 yards receiving and 0.8 touchdowns per game. The Eagles spread the ball around in the passing game so there are likely to be some dud games, but he is worth a look in deeper leagues and as a possible injury or bye week fill-in. Maclin is currently available in over 60 percent of league polled.
WR Michael Crabtree San Francisco 49ers – Through his first two starts of his career Crabtree has averaged 6.5 receptions and 69 receiving yards per game. As Crabtree continues to adjust to the NFL and the 49ers playbook his involvement in the offense should increase. Crabtree is currently available in 60 percent of all leagues.
