non-Deep Thoughts Week 7
1. Brandon Jacobs finally gets rolling against the Cardinals averaging 5.8 yards per carry. There was no reason for Manning to attempt 37 passes. I get that the Cardinals were daring him to throw it, but Jacobs was averaging 5.8 yards per carry.
2. Having Jake Delhomme throw it 44 times is stupid. Having Jake Delhomme throw it 44 times and only giving DeAngelo Williams 16 carries is the kind of thing that should get you fired.
3. NFL teams are too wed to the pass. See No. 1 and 2 and the Philadelphia Eagles last week against the Raiders.
4. Playing teams that don’t suck certainly has something to do with the dip in Eli Mannings production, but might it also have something to do with his foot injury as well?
5. Mark Sanchez eating a hot dog is hands down the dumbest story to ever come out of an NFL game.
6. It is no secret that there are a number of really awful teams this year. I can’t help but wonder how much of this has to do with the trend of hiring young coaches. You end up depleting the coaching talent at the coordinator and position coaches slots. You also end up having a lot of head coaches that are either too green to be a head coach or who just aren’t cut out for it. I’m not sure that even makes sense, but it sounded really smart in my head.
7. Let’s talk health care reform and the decision Senator Reid made in going with the opt-out instead of trigger option……..just kidding Mr. Conn.
