Titans Still Sticking With Collins?

Seem to be sticking with Collins for now.
The defense that Fisher and company are mounting of the guy is even more puzzling.
“Kerry’s not playing Peyton Manningesque right now, but he’s not playing bad,” Heimerdinger said. “We’re just not making plays to help the guy. When they’re not making plays, then Kerry’s going to start pressing to make plays, and we can’t have him doing that. That’s where mistakes come in.”
He isn’t playing bad? Collins has eight INTs to five touchdowns. He is completing just 54 percent of his passes. He has a quarterback rating of 62. And yet we still get the ‘he isn’t playing bad’ script from the coaches? I could understand that type of defense if Collins were a rookie QB, but we are talking about a 15-year vet not Mark Sanchez. My only guess for this type of defense is that Kerry Collins has the world’s most fragile ego and Heimerdinger thinks we are all a bunch of idiots.
Earlier today I was listening to the Thursday ESPN Football Today podcast (a very worthwhile daily listen btw) and Len Pasquarelli said something to the effect that the Titans being 0-6 is one of the biggest mysteries this season. I respect the hell out of Pasquarelli, but it isn’t a mystery why the Titans have no marks in the win column. Their defense, in just six weeks, have given up 19 passing touchdowns. That is more than Matt Ryan threw for ALL of last season. When you add to that the horrid play of Kerry Collins, it is pretty easy to see why the Titans have yet to win a game this season.
The Titans season is over. Next year they will owe something like $14 million dollars to Vince Young. They are not going to win a Super Bowl with Kerry Collins at quarterback, if they were they would have done it last year, and they aren’t going to do it with $14 million dollars invested in a bench player. Seeing what Vince Young has to offer should be the team’s No. 1 priority right now, not defending Kerry Collins.
