The Sunday Scramble with Helbling
Adam Helbling will be here at 11 AM on Sunday to give you all the latest injury updates, inactives and important news to help you with your fantasy team. Email your questions to the411@411fantasy.com.
Helbling (10:50) – Tabs were invented so you can listen to The Big Daddy and/or Jeff Thitoff on Cooper Sports Radio while following the Scramble.
Helbling (10:56) – Schefter reporting that neither C. Johnson or M. Stafford is expected to play today.
Helbling (11:00) – Fox Sports John Czarnecki reports that this could be a one and down see for Bucs head coach Raheem Morris.
Helbling (11:05) – A. Bradshaw was limited in practice on Friday, but is expected to start. I can see the Giants running the ball a bit more this week in order to keep the Saints offense off the field. Bradshaw makes a decent flex or bye-week fill-in with additional value in PPR leagues.
Helbling (11:09) – I’m reading a lot of reports that the Rams will not be trading S. Jackson. Did anybody really see that as a possibility? This isn’t MLB and Jackson is the only one selling tickets in St. Louis.
Helbling (11:10) – Speaking of trades…some reports out there that Joey Galloway is available. Not too much of a surprise. Galloway and Brady never got on the same page and Galloway is likely to be a healthy scratch for much of the season unless there is an injury.
Helbling (11:14) - Obtained video footage of what Conn is up to this morning instead of helping with The Scramble.
Helbling (11:20) – According to Chris Mortensen E. Manning told Rachel Nichols that he is 90 percent. The injury still has to worry E. Manning owners. As a non-contact injury it is something that can flare up at any time.
Helbling (11:22) – Reports are that W. Parker will play this week, but the starting gig is all Mendenhalls. It is a good match-up for both, but if I had better options I might look elsewhere until we see what kind of split both backs get.
Helbling (11:34) – Always bad news to hear the name James Andrews dropped into a sentence containing one of your fantasy players. M. Stafford owners beware. Stafford reportedly returned to practice this week, but had additional swelling in his knee and is expected to visit Dr. Andrews with a new MRI.
Helbling (11:37) – P. Harvin is active this week. I think he makes a decent option as a No. 3 WR.
Helbling (11:39) – T. Polamalu will start today, but says his knee still feels ‘loose’. I’m no James Andrews, but I would say that is a feeling one shouldn’t experience in their knee.
Helbling (11:40) – ESPN reports that the Steelers O-line is grumpy about not running the ball enough and if it continues plans to approach coaching staff. Seeing stuff like this leak out from the Steelers seems odd to me, not to mention that the Steelers should be passing the ball more than running it.
Helbling (11:43) – Adam Schefter reporting that those who attended the owners meeting last week are convinced that 2010 is going to be an uncapped season. I’m sure this pleases guys like Daniel Snyder who will probably go from hated to loved in DC.
Helblign (11:46) – A. Bryant is active today for the Bucs. Every time I say I would sit him, he posts decent numbers. I would sit him this week…….you are welcome Bryant owners.
Helbling (11:50) – Big news for Browns fans, Bernie Kosar is back! Unfortunately, he won’t be under center but working as a team consultant reporting to the owner. I’m sure Mangini is thrilled at this.
Helbling (11:56) – Both P. Thomas and M. Bell are active for the Saints this week. Thomas was working through an ankle injury this week, but is the expected starter. It will be interesting to see what kind of split the Saints go with.
Helbling (11:58) – C. Johnson is a surprise active for the Lions this week. Johnson didn’t practice all week and nearly everybody was expecting him on the sidelines this week. How much he plays is the big question. I would still shy away from him if possible. I’m getting conflicting reports on C. Johnson’s status. I’ll do some quick digging.
Helbling (12:04) – Adam Schefter is reporting that C. Johnson is ‘INactive’ for the Lions this week. There are a number of sites reporting him as active. I’m going with Adam Schefter who is almost always spot on. Sit C. Johnson.
Helbling (12:09) – Schefter also reporting that J. Cotchery for the Jets is expected to be inactive. This means more looks for B. Edwards.
Helbling (12:12) – LT C. Samuels is out for the Redskins this week. I think the Redskins could do some damage against the Panthers this week, but it becomes much tougher without Samuels.
Helbling (12:21) – WR D. Thomas is going to replace M. Kelly in the Redskins starting line-up. If you have been or need to start either of these guys, good luck next year.
Helbling (12:41) – ESPN with a quick segment on why there are so many bad teams in the NFL. They seemed to all be in agreement that the big reason being missed draft picks, see Russell, JaMarcus. I would add another reason to that last, bad coaches. I mentioned this in the Big Daddy podcast, but there is no reason for the Bills offense to be as bad as they are, other than bad coaching.
Helbling (12:48) – Fox Sports Jay Glazer reporting that the Ravens have contacted the Bills about TO. The Bills supposedly passed because of the spike in tickets sales with TO on the roster.
Helbling (12:57) – With CBS getting ready to head to the game, I’m calling it a wrap. We have another full slate of goodies coming your way next week with Waiver Wire, Tuesday Hangover, Risk Management, The Big Daddy, Experts Competition results and more so be sure to check us out through the week. Good luck in all your leagues, unless you face one of us.

I knew I should’ve traded Ryan Grant after that Tito Man Crush nonsense…
