Fantasy Thoughts From Thursday

September 11 2009 No Commented

Some brief and random thoughts fantasywise from last night’s game.

Ben Roethlisberger – I would bet that if you asked every member of the Steelers organization that they would tell you that they intend to remain a run first team. I think that might be a mistake. If the running game struggles for the entire year, Roethlisberger could easily push for second tier status. He has weapons capable of making plays at all levels from deep to dump-offs. I wouldn’t say it is the most talented group, but it might be the most well-rounded.

Hines Ward/Santonio Holmes – It looked like people predicting that Holmes would have a break-out year last year, might have been one year off. Ward shouldn’t be ignored, but I think this is the year he takes a backseat in the passing game. I think Holmes will have big games even when the Steelers don’t throw the ball 43 times while Ward will struggle.

Willie Parker – I’ll stand by my Willie Parker prediction for another couple of weeks before pretending like I never said it. I think Parker still has a strong season and everybody talking about the end of the Steelers running game are forgetting that the Titans have a pretty good defense. With the number of missed assignments on the line last night, Adrian Peterson would have looked average.

Chris Johnson/LenDale White - Johnson showed some big play ability, but just didn’t get enough carries imo. White, should still make a decent flex bye-week option for owners in deeper leagues.

Bo Scaife
– Collins seemed to check down to his tight ends a lot last night. No official word on his injury, but if he doesn’t miss too much time I think he makes a nice tier three tight end.

What did you think about last night’s game? Have any disappointments or concerns? Spot any diamonds in the rough?
