In the final rounds of any draft I like to take a couple of hit or miss type players. These are the
kind of players you will deny having ever drafted or spend the year reminding your fellow
owners of your brilliance. One of the benefits in drafting such players is that you will find out
pretty quickly if they are a hit or a miss. If they miss you can easily drop them and then have the
roster space to pick-up one of the hot free agents on the waiver wire. If they hit . . . let the
bragging begin!

One of the hit or miss guys I am looking at this season is San Francisco 49ers running back Glen
Coffee
. The team has been up in the air on how they plan on using the rookie running back, but
he has turned in a solid preseason and
coaches have raved about him. Singletary will have the
49ers running the ball often this season, especially with his two quarterbacks struggling. Gore is
the clear No. 1, but if Coffee continues performing keeping him off the field might be tough to
do. Coffee is going undrafted in most 10-team leagues so if your league’s Gore owner is being
lazy in getting a handcuff you should be able to grab him in the last couple of rounds.
